Background Edit

Early Life Edit

Lilly Singh was born on 26 September 1988 in Scarborough, Ontario, to Malwinder and Sukhwinder Singh, who are originally from Punjab, India. At the age of two, she moved to Toronto, Canada. She has an older sister named Tina. She has described herself as a tomboy during her childhood years. After battling depression for around a year, Lilly decided to start working on her YouTube channel full-time, on a beach holiday with the rest of her family.

Career Edit

While growing up, Singh wondered about what career to pursue. She came up with the concept of "Superwoman" at the age of eight, after she had heard a song of the same name and then was given a ring with an 'S' on it. In 2010, Singh decided to start her YouTube channel. Now Lilly has over 8 million subscribers and 1 billion views. She has also created her two overexaggerated parent characters, Manjeet and Paramjeet Singh, who appear in most of her videos. Some of the most famous videos featuring Manjeet and Paramjeet are the 'My Parents React' series, in which Lilly, dressed as her parents, reacts to music videos and other videos, including The Fine Bros' 'Kids React to IISuperwomanII'. Lilly was also part of a YouTube marketing campaign that put her on billboards across the world, and had a bus decorated with a picture of her and her parents. She has also recently won a Streamy Award, was number 8 on a list of the highest-earning YouTubers and was also named one of the 30 most influential people on the Internet. Edit
